Public Invited to Join Discussion with IoT Experts at Mindspace

Keynote: IoT—4th Industrial Revolution or a Cybersecurity Armageddon?


Washington D.C. (Sept. 12, 2019) – From smart city projects to cybersecurity, discover the IoT trends fostering the thriving DC ecosystem. A former White House cybersecurity official and entrepreneur with a venture capital firm will deliver the keynote presentation.

RIoT, a community of technologists, engineers, business leaders, academics, policy makers and entrepreneurs who have a role in the Internet of Things of connected devices, will host the event to explore about IoT is shaping the next generation of government and military technology.

IoT entrepreneurs and industry experts will share how they’re innovating, showcasing emerging technology through IoT that relate to the government and military tech sector.

Keynote Speaker: The keynote presentation is “IoT—4th Industrial Revolution or a Cybersecurity Armageddon?” by Roselle Safran, cybersecurity entrepreneur and former cybersecurity operations manager for the Executive Office of the President. She will discuss the threats of IoT devices and the importance of cybersecurity in the emerging IoT market.

Safran is the entrepreneur in residence at Lytical Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage cybersecurity companies. She is also President of Rosint Labs, a consultancy to security teams, leaders and startups. Previously Roselle was the co-founder and CEO of Uplevel Security, which was acquired by McAfee. She managed cybersecurity operations at the Executive Office of the President during the Obama Administration, directing the tactical, operational, and strategic work of the Security Operations Center that protected and defended the White House’s network. Before that, she managed analysis teams at the Department of Homeland Security’s US-CERT and spearheaded the development of two cyber threat intelligence platforms.

RIoT Executive Director Tom Snyder will moderate an IoT discussion. He has more than 25 years in product and technology development in consumer and industrial electronics, healthcare and Internet of Things. Experience in multi-national corporations including HTC, Ericsson and Sony Ericsson, and small business consulting, teaching, startup acceleration and entrepreneurship. He has been awarded more than 30 patents.
