2019 Triangle Smart Cities Summit

RIoT showcases 8 startup teams to celebrate their completion of RAP and introduce them to the RIoT Community. RAP III teams include Internet of Things companies that are tackling everything from taking down pesky backyard pests to better protecting newborns in the NICU. A panel of judges will select the next winner of the RIoT Championship Belt!
American Meteorological Society 100th Annual Meeting
Boston MA, United StatesWireless Research Center’s Mike Barts, Asokan Ram, Koichiro Takamizawa and Shruthi Soora presented, “An Architecture for Monitoring Humidity Using Cellular Network Signals.” The presentation focused on developing a technique to use 4G/5G signals to derive integrated humidity between base stations and sensors. The WRC team was joined in the presentation by Mark Weber, Dusan Zrnic, Alexander Ryzhkov, Danny Wasielewski of the NOAA OAR National Severe Storm Laboratory, and Keith Brewster of the Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms at the University of Oklahoma.

Drones, Public Safety and Smart Infrastructure
webinarWRC Senior Staff Engineer Mike Barts joins a panel to discuss Drones, Public Safety and Smart Infrastructure. Drone technology is leading to many innovations that are impacting public safety, communications and the smart city. Drone Responders are leaders of best practices for Drones and Public Safety. The Wireless Research Center and AERPAW recently won a grant to expand their innovative work with drones. The panel will discuss this project and how new smart infrastructure was designed by Aero Wireless to enable better utilization of drones as well as enable better communications network capabilities.
