Tom Davis Joins Nonprofit Community as Expert in Residence
WAKE FOREST, N.C. (April 8, 2020) – Tom Davis, an aviation and advanced air mobility veteran at NASA and Crown Consulting, has joined the Advanced Mobility Collective as an expert in residence and member of the Board of Advisors.
The Advanced Mobility Collective is a new community for collaboration to bring new mobility services to life. The Collective is a nonprofit global community of business, technology, government and research partners.
“The Collective and our partners are fortunate to have Tom join our team,” said Advanced Mobility Collective Executive Director Todd Spain. “He is recognized as a subject matter expert in advanced air transportation, unmanned aircraft systems and urban air mobility technologies and concepts.” Davis and Spain are members of the NASA Advanced Air Mobility Ecosystem Working Group.
Davis currently is vice president of science and research programs at Crown Consulting, which serves commercial and government organizations with analytics, information solutions and engineering services. Davis’ clients include NASA, the FAA, the N.C. Department of Transportation Division of Aviation and NUAIR, a nonprofit based in New York that manages a test site for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) for NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Davis served in several leadership positions in his 35-year career with NASA. He served as the division chief of the aviation systems division at the NASA Ames Research Center which also included roles as a researcher and project manager. He served in key roles in joint NASA and Federal Aviation Administration research initiatives for air traffic control and earned an award for NASA Software of the Year for the Center TRACON Automation System (CTAS). Davis also received the NASA Outstanding Leadership Medal, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, and the NASA Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal.

The Collective is continuing to build and expand its network of partners as an economic development initiative of The Wireless Research Center.
